Round 1 of the Xmtb Spring Series took place today at Ormeau Park. Although the morning started dry the predicted wet weather arrived before the start of the first race. The rain went from light to very heavy back to light again. When all racing was finished the sun came out!! Lots of fun in the mud.

In 2016 Cycling Ulster had sent a cross-country mountain bike team to the British NPS series. The Off-road Commission is now looking for expression of interest from riders who wish to join this team to compete at the British events in 2017. As per 2016 the team will be made up of a maximum of 4 riders. Age categories are Junior and Under 23 (male or female).

Drumcairne Forest is a hidden gem located just outside the County Tyrone town of Stewartstown. Local club Island Wheelers have been hard at work preparing a course around this neglected site which was once the extended gardens of a grand house. Many thanks to Banbridge Cycling Club for hosting the 2016 Ulster Mountain Bike Cross-country championships at Castlewellan Forest Park. We had dry conditions throughout the day until just after the final rider crossed the line. It was a wet clean up with riders rushing for their cars. A great days racing. Results here
Pre-entries have opened for the 5th round of the National Point Series which takes place at Davagh Forest on Sunday 14 August 2016. This round also doubles up as Round 5 of the Ulster XC series. There is a great pre-view video which is well worth watching. Click here for details.
After receiving expressions of interest from riders, the Off-road Commission held a selection day on Sunday 3 July 2016. From that, the commission has selected the following riders to represent Ulster at the upcoming Inter-regional MTB Championships which will be held in Glasgow on 29-31 July 2016. Craig McCarthy Drew Armstrong Lee Harvey Thomas Creigthon with non-travelling reserve Dean Harvey. We wish the team every success.
The Youth Camp returns this year with 6 dates. These sessions are for Under 8s, 10s and 12s. Dates are as follows: Monday 18 July, Monday 25 July, Monday 1 August, Monday 15 August, Monday 22 August, Monday 29 August. Time 7-8:30 pm. Locations given below.
