On Sunday 6 March 2022, Kinning Cycles hosted a cross-country mountain bike race at Ormeau Park in Belfast. The site had been used in previous years by Xmtb so it was great to return to the much loved venue. Like the Xmtb series this race was primarily aimed at youth with races for Under 6s up to Under 16s. Tagged onto the youth events were races for Women and Men.
On arrival on site the park was frozen with clumps on ice on the gravel pitch which was being used for parking, registration, timing and the start/finish. Thankfully the sun rose behind the tree line and warmed up the site and melted the ice – returning it to mud!
