Expressions of interest are sought from Youth riders (Boys & Girls) interested in being considered for selection for the UK Inter-Regional Mountain Bike Competitions which will take place on 15-16 September 2018 at Hadleigh Park, Essex.
This event is for Ulster riders in the Under 14’s or Under 16’s age categories. Ulster will be up against 13 other regions from across Great Britain. Riders must be able to travel over to the games on that weekend.
The team can be made up of 4 boys and 4 girls with 1 non-travelling reserve.
The team would have a Manager and Coach and all travel and accommodation will be paid for from the Cycling Ulster off-road budget.
Riders will travel over on Friday 14 September. The games start on the Saturday morning (15 September) with bike skills competition.
Saturday and Sunday has various types of bunch races (Combine, Dirt Crits, Team Relay, XCO etc.) but the final details have not been provided as yet.
The testing day has been scheduled for Saturday 21 July 2018 at Castlewellan Forest Park at 10:00 (Note: This is the day before the XC National Championships so riders can get to practice the course later that day). On that day the tests will involve a bike handling skills section and a hill climb. As part of the selection criteria the panel will be taking account of the best 5 cross-country racing results of 2018 (from any series and including the XC National Championships).
